There’s a new way to reach your daily step goal at the library while adding another book to your “done pile!” Lititz Public Library introduces StoryWalk® this summer, combining two wonderfully healthy activities – taking a walk and reading a book. This self-directed activity for people of all ages encourages participants to read a children’s picture book while walking along a short path. Participants are encouraged to complete a simple activity at each stop. StoryWalk® promotes literacy, physical activity, parental involvement, and ties to the community.
The Lititz Public Library’s first StoryWalk® title is Ivan the Terrier by Peter Catalanotto. The story follows Ivan, a lively terrier puppy, who enters and interrupts one classic fairy tale after another. This title ties in nicely with the 2020 Summer Reading Program theme “Imagine Your Story.” The StoryWalk® begins to the right of the entrance to the Lititz Public Library and moves right along the sidewalk around the library property.
