Holiday StoryWalk Downtown Lititz (Broad Street and Main Street)

The Lititz Public Library invites the community to participate in our Downtown Lititz Holiday StoryWalk®. The Holiday StoryWalk® runs from November 16 through January 3.

It begins at The Purple Turtle at 7 Kleine Lane and heads south to Main Street, travels up and down Main, and ends at Borough Hall. The library would like to express gratitude to sixteen local businesses for displaying a page in their window during the holiday season.

A StoryWalk® combines two healthy activities, taking a walk and reading a book. It is a self-directed activity for people of all ages which encourages participants to read a children’s picture book in stages while walking along a path. Participants are encouraged to complete a simple activity at each page. StoryWalk® promotes literacy, physical activity, parental involvement, and ties to the community.

The joyful holiday picture book, I’ve Got the Christmas Spirit by Connie Schofield-Morrison, was selected for this Holiday StoryWalk®. The story explores the sights and sounds of the holiday season as a mother and daughter are shopping in the city. The main character spreads the spirit of giving wherever she goes. And when she reaches Santa, she tells him her Christmas wish–for peace and love everywhere all the days of the year.

Participants have two opportunities to win a picture book to add to their home library. Scan the QR Code at the conclusion of the StoryWalk® to record the number of participants and be entered to win a copy of the book. Parents may also take a picture of their child with one of the StoryWalk® pages and include it on the Lititz Public Library Facebook page, or tag the Lititz Public Library on social media to be entered to win a copy of I’ve Got the Christmas Spirit by Connie Schofield-Morrison.
