Millport School Log Cabin Road and Disston View Road

The land for this school was sold to the Warwick School District by Samuel Musselman and his cousins Elizabeth Musselman, Nancy Musselman, and Catharine Musselman for $103.12. It contained 60 perches. The deed was dated October 24, 1883, and recorded in Deed Book M, Volume 13, page 495 on February 20, 1891.

It was not until March 12, 1957 that the School District sold it to Noah Hurst for $1,970. It was recorded in Deed Book N, Volume 45, page 172 on March 18, 1957. Noah Hurst and his wife Mabel H. Hurst transferred ownership of these 60 perches to the Trustees of the Millport Christian Day School for $1,970. The names of the Trustees in the deed were Noah B. Hurst, Ivan N. Good, Milton Hurst, Amos H. Martin and Reuben N. Martin. The deed is dated November 3, 1962 and was recorded on November 9, 1962 in Deed Book E, Volume 52, page 131.

Found in “Neighborhood News” in The Lititz Record Exmillport_school2press on Friday Morning, November 9, 1883. The Millport school in Warwick Township was dedicated last Friday, the 2d instant. The building is a good frame structure 24 x 32 and reflects credit on all concerned. Addresses were delivered by Dr. Higbee, State Superintendant, Mr. King Teacher of the school, Dr. Dellman of Oregon, Messrs. Levin Reist and Peter Reist and others.

In The Lititz Record of September 4, 1924, “Rothsville Items” column was the following. The Millport school, Warwick Township, J. Eugene Mohn, teacher, opened on Monday (Labor Day) with an enrollment of 32 pupils.
